About Us

We focus on taxes. We don't do bookkeeping or payroll, so that we can focus on tax preparation which helps us stay up to date on the latest changes to Federal and state tax codes.

We'll make sure your return is filed accurately and on time, with all the deductions you're entitled to. We prepare all types of individual returns - self-employment, rentals, multi-state returns, retirement income and more.

Because we want to give each client the time and attention they deserve, we can only accept a few new clients each year. Contact us in the fall for availability and we can see if we are a good fit. Bring us a copy of your prior year tax return for a free quote.

Who we are

Craig McKenzie is an Enrolled Agent, and an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant #35369C. Craig and Melody have owned property on the Oregon Coast since 2005, and have made their dream of living here full time a reality by starting Gray Coast Tax Service Inc. in Depoe Bay in 2012. When not behind his desk, Craig can be found playing tennis, walking the dog, photographing the changing tides, stringing tennis rackets or volunteering at the Oregon Coast Aquarium. Craig is a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents, and the Oregon Society of Tax Consultants.

Melody Wilkins has been helping small businesses and individuals with their taxes since she prepared her first paid tax return in 1990. Melody is also an Enrolled Agent, and an Oregon Licensed Tax Consultant #70172C, as well as a member of the Oregon Association of Tax Consultants, and National Association of Tax Professionals. Melody can be found making soap and pursuing her love of fiber arts.

How we Work

We wanted to take a moment to let you know how we operate at Gray Coast Tax.

We do not prepare your tax return while you sit and wait. Our process takes about a week or so once we receive all of your tax information.
We want to learn about your tax situation, ask pertinent questions and answer any questions about your areas of concern. We want to know your story, so we can figure out how best to translate it onto your tax return.
Once we have received a copy of your last tax return and all of your documents we will complete your tax return and ask for additional information as needed via one of our preferred methods (text, email, portal).
We will notify you about the results before we print and package your return along with your original documents so they are ready for your review and signature.
We then electronically file your tax return. Direct Deposit is available for refunds.
